LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Cash-strapped classrooms in the Los Angeles Unified School District are getting a big boost in funds.
On Monday 285,000 Starbucks customers will be given a $10 gift card to DonorsChooseLA.org, a website listing classroom projects that need funding.
People who receive the gift cards will then have the opportunity to choose which project their gift card is going to.
The gift cards were made possible by a grant from the Wasserman Foundation.

At Charity’s Heart
Strong feelings of compassion may cause you to seek out opportunities to help others today. As you go about your daily routine, you may become aware of individuals in your personal or professional spheres who have experienced recent tragedies, are having difficulty handling their workloads, or are experiencing financial challenges. You may be moved by your natural empathy to offer whatever assistance you can, whether in the form of monetary aid, advice, or emotional support. If you are uncomfortable with the notion of tendering unsolicited aid, consider that many people may go without assistance because they fear rejection. You can make a profound difference in someone's life today when you allow your compassion to guide you.
It is our compassion that reminds us of the interconnectedness of all living beings and inspires us to take action when we see others suffering. Intimately intertwined with empathy and kindness, compassion reminds us that there is a wide world beyond our own physical borders, populated by individuals who are valuable and vital. When we feel compassion, we respond by giving the support and aid we are capable of bestowing upon those in need of our care. It wakens our hearts to the fact that the entities with whom we share the planet feel pain as we do, and it lies at the root of all charitable acts—even those seemingly fueled by selfish motivations. Your willingness to freely offer aid and support to people in need today will be the result of the copious compassion you feel.

AS FEW AS 3,200 TIGERS LEFT
Save Tigers Now is a global campaign by World Wildlife Fund and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Our goal is to build political, financial and public support to double the number of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.
A hundred years ago there were 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today there are as few as 3,200.
Why are tigers disappearing?
Poaching to feed consumer demand for tiger body parts, mostly for use in traditional Asian medicines and folk remedies.
As more and more forests are cleared for paper and palm oil, tiger habitat disappears daily.
